Triple A: Memphis 3 - Iowa 2
- Breyvic Valera (LF): 1-4, R
- Harrison Bader (CF): 3-4, SB, CS
- Tyler O’Neill (RF): 1-4, R, HR, 2 RBI
- Aledmys Diaz (2B): 0-3, 2 RBI
- Patrick Wisdom (3B): 0-3, K
- Matt Pearce (SP): 7 IP, 9 H, 2 R, 1 BB, 0 K
- Arturo Reyes (RP): 2 IP, 2 H
Hey another ebo DFR another Tyler O’Neill home run. His homers have come in bursts for Memphis thus far so hopefully the rest of the DFR crew gets in on the fun the next few days...10 of Aledmys Diaz last 12 starts have come at 2B or 3B. In addition to not hitting very well he’s ceding shortstop to the likes of Wilfredo Tovar...Matt Pearce has gotten the walk issues from last season under control, but he has been susceptible to the long ball in Memphis which combined with a sky high BABIP has left him with a pretty ugly line for the Redbirds.
Double A: Arkansas 5 - Springfield 1
- Oscar Mercado (CF): 1-4, RBI, K
- Magneuris Sierra (LF): 0-3, BB, 2 K
- Jose Adolis Garcia (RF): 0-3, BB, K
- Darren Seferina (2B): 0-4, 2 K
- Andrew Knizner (C): 0-4
- Eliezer Alvarez (DH): 0-3, K
- Tommy Edman (SS): 2-3, R, K
- Chris Ellis (SP): 5.1 IP, 4 H, 2 R, 2 BB, 7 K
- Sandy Alcantara (RP): 1 IP, 2 H, 1 R
Not much to say about the Springfield offense last night besides 4 hits and 11 strikeouts...Tommy Edman’s 2 hits were the closest thing to a highlight. His numbers have dropped off as he’s moved up to each level, but he’ll still likely begin next season in AA as a 22 year old SS with good contact skills and doubles power...Chris Ellis hasn’t been able to repeat the sub-3 ERA he had in AA last season, but his peripherals have all moved in the right direction.
Class A Advanced: Daytona 5 - Palm Beach 2
- Jose Godoy (C): 0-4, K
- Chris Chinea (1B): 2-4, R, 2B, BB, K
- Edmundo Sosa (2B): 1-5, RRBI
- Andy Young (3B): 1-3, R, BB, 2 K
- Kevin Siegrist (SP): 1 IP, 1 H, 1 BB, 2 K
- Jake Woodford (RP): 6 IP, 4 H, 2 R, 0 ER, 1 BB, 7 K
There isn’t a current Palm Beach hitter with a 100 PA’s, who is currently on the roster with even a 110 wRC+. This is not an exciting lineup at the moment...Jake Woodford seemed like he was on a Jack Flaherty career path; holding his own in the Florida State League as a 20 year old with out really dominating. But as he’s gotten deeper into the season the walk numbers have crept up and the strikeouts have disappeared, so it was nice to see a really strong outing from him last night...Hey, it’s Kevin Siegrist.
