Triple A: Oklahoma City 4 - Memphis 1

  • Breyvic Valera (LF): 1-4, K
  • Nick Martini (RF): 2-3, RBI, SB
  • Carson Kelly (C): 0-4, K
  • Harrison Bader (CF): 1-4, R, K, SB
  • Patrick Wisdom (3B): 0-4, 2 K
  • Jose Adolis Garcia (PH): 1-1
  • Marco Gonzales (SP): 6 IP, 6 H, 4 R, 2 BB, 1 K
  • Miguel Socolovich (RP): 1 IP, 1 K

Carson Kelly has cooled off since his hot start, his batting average has dropped over 50 points and his SLG is down almost 100 points since the beginning of June. He is still in the middle of his best offensive season as a professional and on schedule for a September call up...Aledmys Diaz hasn’t played since Saturday...It’s not the most exciting profile in the world, but Nick Martini may have played himself into the mix for the Chad Huffman Spare Big League Outfielder Stashed In Memphis role next year...With more exciting prospects coming up behind him, and guys like Luke Weaver, Alex Reyes and even Tyler Lyons in front of him it’s looking like Marco Gonzales may be destined for a bullpen role in St. Louis in 2017.

Double A: Springfield 8 - Northwest Arkansas 3

  • Oscar Mercado (CF): 1-5, K, CS
  • Darren Seferina (2B): 1-3, R, K, SB
  • Anthony Garcia (RF): 1-4, R, HR, 3 RBI, K
  • Randy Arozarena (LF): 2-4, 2 R, 2B, K
  • Bruce Caldwell (DH): 2-3, 2 R, HR, 2 RBI, BB, K
  • Andrew Knizner (C): 3-4, RBI
  • Jacob Wilson (3B): 1-3, R, HR, 2 RBI
  • Tommy Edman (SS): 0-3, BB, K
  • Sandy Alcantara (SP): 5.2 IP, 7 H, 1 R, 3 BB, 4 K

Anthony Garcia has completely slipped off of my personal prospect list. He’s 25, he hasn’t hit well above AA, he’s been passed on the depth chart by several outfielders over the last two seasons, and he cleared waivers and was outrighted off the 40 man earlier this year, so the Cardinals and 29 other teams seem to feel the same way I do. But he’s putting together another nice season in Springfield, batting .287/.351/.532 with 15 homers and a wRC+ over 140. He’s hitting well enough to get another crack at AAA and a 40 man spot, whether it is in the Cardinals organization or somewhere else...Last night’s game brought Randy Arozarena’s slash line up to .275/.333/.472 with a homer, a triple, four doubles and three steals through his first 15 games in the Texas League.
