Triple A: Oklahoma City 3 - Memphis 2

  • Nick Martini (LF): 3-4, 2 RBI
  • Carson Kelly (C): 0-3, BB, 2 K
  • Harrison Bader (CF): 0-4, 3 K
  • Patrick Wisdom (3B): 0-4, K
  • Breyvic Valera (2B): 0-4, R
  • Zac Gallen (SP): 5 IP, 6 H, 3 R, 0 BB, 8 K, 1 HR
  • Miguel Socolovich (RP): 1 IP, 0 R

The cupboard in Memphis is looking pretty bare with so many former Redbirds playing with the big club, and it doesn't help when Kelly, Bader and Wisdom go 0-11 with 6 strikeouts...Swingin' Nick Martini keeps doing his thing though, taking full advantage of his time in AAA...Zac Gallen wasn't particularly efficient in his Pacific Coast League debut, needing 94 pitches to get through 5 innings and taking the loss, but 8 strikeouts and 0 walks is a good sign. Weaver, Gonzales, Flaherty, Gant and Gallen is a pretty impressive collection of talent in the Memphis rotation, and is a pretty impressive turnaround from last year, when the Redbird rotation was almost all minor league free agents at the beginning of the year.

Class A: Beloit 3 - Peoria 2 (12 Innings)

  • Matt Fiedler (RF): 0-4, BB, 3 K
  • Ryan McCarvel (DH): 0-4, BB, 3 K
  • Juan Yepez (3B): 0-4, BB, 3 K
  • Brian O'Keefe (C):1-4, BB, 2 K
  • Nick Plummer (CF): 1-4, R, 2B, BB, 2 K
  • Jordan Hicks (SP): 7.1 IP, 5 H, 2 R, 3 BB, 7 K
  • Ronnie Williams (RP): 3 IP, 2 R, 1 BB, 4 K

Yes it took 12 innings, but Peoria struck out 23 times, so anyway there weren't many offensive highlights, but Nick Plummer hit his 6th double of the year...In addition to his 7 punch outs Jordan Hicks induced 11 ground outs to 2 fly outs...The Chiefs found a creative way to break their 6 game winning streak, Ronnie Williams set down the first 7 batters he faced before allowing a bunt single and a double in the 12th. With one out and runners at second and third he K'd the next batter he faced on a passed ball, and Brian O'Keefe had to throw to first. The batter was forced out at first, but the runner on third scored on the play when the throw home got away from Williams, who scrambled after the ball and got it back to O'Keefe in time to get the runner trying to score from second.

Class A Short-Season: Mahoning Valley 5 - State College

  • Josh Lopez (DH): 1-2, 2 BB
  • Bryce Denton (LF): 0-3, BB, 2 K

Fellow catcher Dennis Ortega is one of the more prominent prospects on the Spikes' roster, but so far Josh Lopez has had the best start of the young season. He's collected 2 homers, 2 doubles and two walks through 5 games.

Rookie: Johnson City 2 - Kingsport 1

  • Wadye Infante (CF): 1-4, R, 2B
  • Delvin Perez (SS): 0-4, R, 2 K
  • Johan Oviedo (SP): 6 IP, 0 R, 3 BB, 7 K

Rookie: GCL Astros 10 - GCL Cardinals 4

  • Terry Fuller (CF): 0-1

Welcome aboard, Terry Fuller.

Dominican Summer League: DSL Cardinals 18 - DSL Yankees 3
