Steve Mitchell-USA TODAY Sports

Triple A: Oklahoma City 3 - Memphis 0

  • Chad Huffman (LF): 1-4, 2B, K
  • Tommy Pham (RF):1-3, BB, SB
  • Luke Voit (1B): 0-4
  • Harrison Bader (CF): 0-3, K
  • Paul DeJong (SS): 0-3, 2 K
  • Patrick Wisdom (3B): 0-3
  • Chris Ellis (SP): 6.2 IP, 6 H, 3 R, 2 ER, 1 BB, 8 K, 1 HR
  • Ryan Sherriff (RP): 1.1 IP, 2 H, 1 K

The Redbirds were 1-hit over 7 innings by old friend Justin Masterson, who the Dodgers appear to be stashing in AAA just in case. Pham's 1-3 was probably the offensive highlight of the night...Chris Ellis took the loss, but it was nice to see him bounce back from the 10 run debacle in his last start with his best outing of the season.

Double A: Springfield 6 - NW Arkansas 4

  • Oscar Mercado (CF):1-5, R, 3B, RBI, K
  • Jose Adolis Garcia (RF): 1-4, 2B, RBI, BB, K, CS
  • Bruce Caldwell (3B): 1-3, BB, K
  • Jacob Wilson (SS): 1-3, BB, K
  • Eliezer Alvarez (2B): 0-4, 2 K
  • Gabriel Lino (C): 3-4, R, HR, 3 RBI
  • Blake Drake (DH): 0-4, K
  • Sandy Alcantara (SP): 6 IP, 12 H, 4 R, 0 BB, 4 K, 1 HR
  • Trey Nielsen (RP): 2 IP, 1 K

Eliezer Alvarez has gotten off to a brutal start, striking out in almost 1/3 of his bats with almost no power to show for it. This team would be a much more interesting follow if Alvarez could get it going to complement the surprising starts from Oscar Mercado and Adolis Garcia...The early returns, or at least the early stats, haven't been great for Sandy Alcantara either. He's done a great job avoiding walks, but a much less great job avoiding bats.

Class A: Quad Cities 14 - Peoria 4

  • Tommy Edman (SS): 2-5, R, HR, RBI, 2 K
  • Brian O'Keefe (DH): 1-3, 2B, BB, K
  • Bryce Denton (RF): 0-3, BB, K
  • Dylan Carlson (LF): 0-2, R, 2 BB, K
  • Shane Billings (CF): 2-4, R
  • Bryan Dobzanski (SP): 2.1 IP, 6 H, 8 R, 2 BB, 2 K, 2 HR

Tommy Edman continues to spark the Chiefs offense. He hasn't been walking at nearly the rate he did in rookie ball, but he's driving the ball, with 10 XBH through 14 games, so who can really blame him?...Not much to highlight from the pitchers. The mop up guys threw pretty well.
