Birds:
Charlie Tilson (AA): 3-5, R, 2B, K, CS
Tilson continues to make a case for a call from AAA: He's nearly doubled his walk rate from 2014 while cutting his strikeouts by about 30% at the same time. He's never going to hit for power it seems (if he's not doing it in the friendly confines of Hammons Field and the lefty friendly Texas League, it's just not going to happen), but he seems to have figured out how to utilize his speed on the bases, swiping 22 bags while being caught just 7 times thus far. I still don't think he much more than a 4th outfielder, but he could be a good, cheap fourth outfielder for a half decade or so.
Danny Martin (SS-A): 2-4, R, 2 3B, 2 RBI, BB
Martin was a 24th round selection by the Cardinals out of Azusa Pacific. He won't turn 21 until August and has the prototypical build of a second baseman. Another Cardinal selection out of a mid-major school that could pay dividends if he continues to hit like this.
Elehuris Montero (DSL-R): 4-6, 4 R, 2B, HR, 3 RBI
More on Montero in the rookie league preview going up later today. Could be a special kid -- he's on pace to do things that no 16 year old has ever done in the Dominican Summer League.
Bums:
Will Anderson (A+): 1 IP, 5 H, 4 ER, K
Anderson has had a rough time ever since moving up to A+ at the end of April after showing quite a bit of promise at the lower A ball levels over the previous two seasons.
Sandy Alcantara (R-GCL): 2.1 IP, 10 H, 11 R, 9 ER, 3 BB, 2 K, HR
Gotta hand it to him: It's hard to give up 9 ER while allowing just one homer.
Tuesday Probables:
Memphis: Cooney
Springfield: Morales
Palm Beach: TBD
State College: Beck
Johnson City: Dobzanski (Given that this is Dobzanski's first start of the season, I'm putting Red Baron on alert)
