Could Kolten Wong sign with the Chicago Cubs? - A Hunt and Peck

Say it ain’t so.

First of all, I apologize for the MS paint monstrosity I created for the for this post’s lead art. I did it for attention and the precious ~cLiCks~ and I have immediate regrets. Now, to the actual rumor...

Since the Cardinals declined Kolten Wong’s option somewhere around three months to three years ago, it has been no secret other teams have been showing interest. They have no reason not to — the second baseman has been nothing but solid since 2014 and has only seemed to improve in recent years. His competent bat and defensive skill make him a prime target for many teams. Per Jon Morosi:

The good news for Kolten Wong fans is the Cardinals are still in the mix. The bad news is the Cubs appear to be, too, for some reason. To me the move doesn’t make a lot of sense for them as they seemed to be looking to shed payroll this offseason. MLB Trade Rumors predicted Wong would sign for two-years for $16 million. Among those teams, the Cardinals seem to be one of the better fits.

But who knows anymore the offseason is weird there is a pandemic and nothing makes any sense ever... what do you think?
