The Cardinals have a night off tonight, but feel free to hangout here! It can be a bit of a bummer to go into the night off after a loss, so let’s reflect on that time earlier this week when the Cardinals destroyed the Reds. The Birdos got out to an early lead:
Note to MLB: The crowd noise has never been this loud when the home team is down 8-0 in the second inning. Turn it down for love of God. The cutouts are trying to sleep. #reds

What made it rare though was the pitcher they scored early on was Sonny Gray, a pitcher that going into Tuesday’s game sported a sub-2.00 ERA. Apparently scoring this much on a pitcher that has allowed so few runs in that many innings pitched is rare. So rare, it hasn’t happened in over 53 years according to this tweet:
The @Cardinals went up against Sonny Gray (1.94 ERA) on the road tonight and yet won the game 16-2.

The last team to face a starter with a sub-2.00 ERA (min. 5 previous starts) on the road and win by 14+ runs was the Orioles on 5/12/1967 against Whitey Ford (14-0).#STLCards
