The St. Louis Cardinals sat out of the season nearly two weeks as the team recovered from its coronavirus outbreak. That time was apparently not used to come up with creative nicknames, though. Brad Miller paid homage to both retired basketball player Tim Duncan along with his current teammate Paul Goldschmidt’s respect of fundamentals with an old nickname:
Brad Miller just called Paul Goldschmidt “The Big Fundy.”

“He’s the Tim Duncan of baseball. We’re pushing that.”
And so, let it be pushed. #stlcards
It didn’t stop there, though.
Brad Miller ran us through the nicknames they've adopted all based around Paul Goldschmidt as their Tim Duncan -- "The Big Fundy," as in fundamental.

Miller is "Small Fundy." Edman "Mini-Fundy." Carpenter "Medium Fundy." They're working on DeJong's.
I suggest: "Sci-Fundy"
