Major League Baseball has made another proposal to the MLB Players’ Association. The response was... Eh, I will just let you see for yourself.
- 82 games at sliding scale = ~33% salary— Mike Axisa (@mikeaxisa) June 8, 2020
- 50 games at prorated pay = ~33% salary
- 76 games at 75% prorated pay = (drumroll) ~33% salary
It all comes back to the same place. MLB keeps making the same offer in different forms. https://t.co/DVfURfN50f
The proposal also requires the players to sign an acknowledgement of risk waiver while playing games during this pandemic.— Bob Nightengale (@BNightengale) June 8, 2020
The MLBPA regards today’s offer from MLB to be worse than the league’s last because it shifts greater emphasis on risk sharing in the postseason. Players would receive 50 percent of pro rata if there is no postseason, 75 if there is. @karlravechespn first on a new offer coming.— Evan Drellich (@EvanDrellich) June 8, 2020
that’s cute— Jack Flaherty (@Jack9Flaherty) June 8, 2020
I think our friend Wick Terrell from Red Reporter described the newest proposal pretty well:
MLB: here have a burger— Wick Terrell (@wickterrell) June 8, 2020
MLBPA: you promised steak
MLB: [/rips burger in half] here have two burgers
MLBPA: that’s not two burgers
MLB: can make it four burgers if you want no problem
In the meantime, the Cardinals players appear to have organized, many of them posting photos on Instagram with similar captions of “I am ready — we want to play”, as pointed out by the wonder Tara Wellman:
So... I do not know, friends. The owners and players seem just as far apart as they were before and time is running out to make a deal. We will keep you posted.
what else is going on in baseball...
what the cardinals are up to...
