You need to hear Lou Brock talk about Jackie Robinson - A Hunt and Peck

No, you’re crying.

In lieu of baseball the Cardinals YouTube page has been posting all sorts of wonderful videos and interviews. They are pretty fun to watch every now and again. I really enjoyed the one I am about to share with you.

Jackie Robinson made his Major League debut on April 15, 1947, in doing so breaking baseball’s color barrier. Since 2004 Major League Baseball has honored Robinson on April 15. On that day every player wears number 42 in his honor. Baseball was suspended this year and this observance did not happen, but that does not mean people did not remember.

The Cardinals video team put together this short video compiling footage of Robinson and footage of Lou Brock, set to a moving score and a speech Lou Brock gave where he recalls Robinson’s impact on him. It is lovely and moving, especially after having watched the film 42 just last week. Watch it here:
