It was announced on Monday afternoon the longtime Cardinals veteran Adam Wainwright had been recognized for his off-field charitable contributions and humanitarian efforts as the 2020 recipient of Major League Baseball’s Roberto Clemente Award. The Clemente award is an annual award voted on by fans and media in honor of the late Roberto Clemente, to recognize players that embody his generosity and selflessness. Adam Wainwright’s work with his foundation, Big League Impact, has left a worldwide impact, with donations going to foundations like Operation Food Search and Mission Water. VEB site manager Josey Curtis wrote more about Wainwright’s charitable endeavors and the Roberto Clemente Award on Monday.
