On Wednesday teams had to announce players from their 2020 roster to whom they would decline to tender a contract. The Cardinals announced they did not tender contracts to two rostered players.
#stlcards did not tender a contract to John Brebbia or Rangel Ravelo. Official announcement expected shortly. News @stltoday.

Rangel Ravelo has been a utility player for the Cardinals since 2019, playing all over the diamond and pinch hitting in 84 major league plate appearances.
John Brebbia has been a solid, funny, and gloriously bearded reliever for the Cardinals since 2017, but did not play in 2020 due to injury. He recently underwent Tommy John surgery and plans to return by 2021. The Cardinals hope to sign him to a minor league contract, Goold reports:
#Stlcards are interested in signing Brebbia to a different deal, source confirms, and will pursue that as he rehabs from Tommy John surgery. https://t.co/zAdmwBJ0mH

Different likely means minor-league deal so that he's not on the roster during spring training.

The non-tender deadline was pretty busy this year, with a few teams declining contracts to up to six players.
There were officially 59 major-league players who were non-tendered today, with the #Cubs and #Royals tied for the most non-tenders with six apiece.
