The last season Alex Reyes pitched more than four major league innings for the Cardinals was 2016. Many people (not me, for the record, but other people) had him heavily factored into the Cardinals plans for 2019. It appears this will not be the case. Per Mark Saxon of The Athletic:
Alex Reyes is feeling pain in his right pectoral muscle and is traveling to St. Louis for diagnostics, including imaging. It appears as if his 2019 season is over. That makes three straight lost years to start a potentially brilliant career.

And Derrick Goold of the St. Louis Post Dispatch:
Alex Reyes is headed to St Louis to meet with team physicians there as pain will not subside in his pec/shoulder area. Arm did not respond to bullpen session earlier this week, says Shildt. #cardinals

The news is certainly disappointing, especially in a season where the Cardinals seem to really be in need of pitching help. Perhaps 2020 will be the season we finally get to see Alex Reyes break out.
