A lot has been said about Mark McGwire. Let’s just say there are mixed feelings about the former Cardinal. That is not what this post is about. This post is not about the terrifying truth.

In 1999 Mark McGwire hit 65 home runs, five short of his career best of 70 set just a season before. What makes 1999 special for Big Mac, though, is that it was the year he reached 500 home runs. In fact, the anniversary of that milestone was August 5.
