Yadier Molina has had a successful career behind the plate. His defensive reputation is likely second to none among current players, specifically at catching would-be base-stealers. At thirty-six years old some skills are likely to decline, though. After nearly 16,000 innings spent in a squat behind home plate, it is only fair that a regular human would lose a step or two.
Except Yadier Molina is not a regular human. Here he is catching Dylan Moore attempting to steal second off an Adam Wainwright curveball.
Yadi: 1.87 sec pop time on this CS
— David Adler (@_dadler) July 4, 2019
MLB avg. to 2B is 2.01.
It's Yadi's 2nd-fastest pop time on a CS at 2B since 2015, when Statcast started tracking. He had a 1.86 on 4/25/16 to catch Paul Goldschmidt. pic.twitter.com/UyrJ18t6aA
Of course, now we have to watch other videos of Yadi throwing folks out, right?
Here is throwing out Dee Gordon.
