This Cardinals season is so weird - A Hunt and Peck

That’s the only way I can think to describe it...

MLB: St. Louis Cardinals at Pittsburgh Pirates Charles LeClaire-USA TODAY Sports

Remember two months ago when the Cardinals were having their Worst May Ever? They managed to win just enough games to not land at the top of that list. This was after getting off to a really hot start in April, going 18-7 in the month. In June the team went exactly .500 and now as we near the end of July they are 12-6, 9-3 after the All Star Break. Graphically this looks a little something like this:

Tough to follow, right? Most importantly is how has this inconsistent play impacted the team’s playoff odds. Let’s check Fangraphs:

The May from Hell hurt a lot, but the Cardinals play as of late has brought them back to where they were to start the season. So basically we are all back to where we started! Nothing matters, but we can try to enjoy it anyway!
