Bryce Harper signed yesterday. Manny Machado signed like a week ago. There are still some free agents left to sign, but this post is not about any of that. It is about the best story of the offseason - or at least my favorite story and therefore the best for the purposes of this post.
This is about Brandon Nimmo.
Nimmo is an outfielder for the New York Mets. I imagine as a professional athlete he is trying to make smart choices about his diet. This probably lends to cooking at home more often than going out to eat. Maybe this is a new venture for the young man, maybe he has been cooking all his life... What happened next suggests the former, however.
Update: Brandon Nimmo tried to cook and then ate chicken last night, Mickey Callaway said, adding that the Mets should teach him how to cook.

“He was throwing up all night,” Callaway said. https://t.co/2JYeXXaPMx
Nimmo ate undercooked chicken that he prepared himself and got sick, according to Callaway. Mets plan to teach him how to cook.

I like to think Nimmos must have been really happy after completing the cooking of this meal. He might have even beamed with pride. He was excited, a new discovery of the love of cooking now deep in his heart
Nimmo even took a picture of the meal he cooked and sent it to his wife because he was so proud of it. #mets

Poor Nimmo must have been so discouraged. Then, a twist:
BREAKING NEWS: @You_Found_Nimmo’s final test results are in - it was a VIRUS! Cancel all the cooking lessons, he’s good!

It was the flu! Nimmo did not give himself food poisoning. You did a great job, Brandon. Do not give up - keep cooking!
