Alex Reyes tops Cardinals prospect list yet again - A Hunt and Peck

Which is a good and bad thing.

MLB: St. Louis Cardinals-Media Day Steve Mitchell-USA TODAY Sports

The past two years have not gone the way Alex Reyes and the Cardinals had hoped. The young righty was called up to the majors in 2016 and in those 46 innings made quite an impression. Many folks were excited to see what this young flame-thrower could do.

Two years later we still wonder. That is the how Reyes once again tops the Cardinals Prospect rankings, according to MLB.com. In 2017 Reyes sat out the entire season recovering from Tommy John surgery. In 2018 Reyes was back and he looked strong in his rehab starts. He returned to the majors in May, but four innings later he was back on the disabled list with a torn lat muscle. He missed the rest of the 2018 season.

This season Reyes will attempt to finally make it back to the Bigs. He threw to live hitters for the first time in nine months just Tuesday. Hopefully this is the year he loses his prospect status.
