Paul Goldschmidt is baseball’s sixteenth best player - A Hunt and Peck

According to Top 100 Players Right Now! on MLB Network

MLB: St. Louis Cardinals at Arizona Diamondbacks Mark J. Rebilas-USA TODAY Sports

Back in December the Cardinals made a trade for first baseman Paul Goldschmidt. Goldschmidt easily became the team’s new best player, which is not an indictment on the rest of the team at all, but rather an indication on how good Goldschmidt is. According to MLB Network’s Top 100 Players Right Now! he would be the best player on a lot of teams - about 21 or 22 other teams, if my math is correct (depending on where Bryce Harper signs). On the show he ranked 16th among MLB players.

Pretty cool he is a Cardinal. Other Cardinals appearing on the list...

76. Marcell Ozuna
33. Matt Carpenter
