For his post Thursday morning stlcardsfan4 took a look at Marcell Ozuna and how he might fit with the Cardinals going forward. There is a strong case for the Cardinals to bring back the left-fielder. MLB Trade Rumors predicts he will sign for three years, $45 million. His projections indicate he is likely to provide value that exceeds that amount. The Cardinals are familiar with him as he spent the 2018 and 2019 in the organization. It seems like a good fit.
The signing was far from a sure thing, though, and after the Cardinals offered Ozuna a Qualifying Offer, the likelihood that the Cardinals re-signed him seemed slim to none. According to Mark Saxon of The Athletic, we might have ruled the reunion out too soon.
John Mozeliak today on Marcell Ozuna: “We’re still focused on that, for now, until we’re told we can’t do it.” https://t.co/bAn91lx4p9

The rumors so far have the Cardinals mostly focused on left-handed hitting, which Ozuna is not, so it still seems like a long-shot. According to John Mozeliak the Cardinals are still interested in making a deal happen, though, and if MLB Trade Rumors predicted salary holds true, if would look to be quite a deal for the Birdos.
