Adam Wainwright’s next start in the majors will be on September 10 against the Pirates - A Hunt and Peck

A week ago it was reported that Adam Wainwright was going to start, probably. Now it is a fact: Adam Wainwright will start when he returns and that return will be on September 10, 2018 against the Pittsburgh Pirates. Per Joe Trezza of MLB.com:

The Cardinals are planning to activate Wainwright and slot him back into their rotation next Monday for the opener of a three-game set against the Pirates at Busch Stadium. The assignment comes on the heels of a three-week rehab stint and will mark Wainwright’s first big league appearance since May 17, when he landed on the disabled list with inflammation in the elbow.

In his rehab starts he has pitched seventeen innings, giving up no runs on twelve hits and four walks while striking out twenty-three.
