September 28, 2011. The Cardinals have defeated the Houston Astros. All that was left was to wait. Were they on their way to the postseason or was there another obstacle standing in the way? Thirteen innings the Phillies and Braves battled. The Phillies had already clinched everything the could: their division, the top seed, home field advantage. The had nothing truly to play for, except for honor (they were also playing for a franchise record of most games won in a season). Honor and desperation brought the two teams together and kept them fighting as the clocked turned over into the next day.
And all the while we waited.
The season is looking to have a similar finish. Adam Wainwiright leads the charge today.
