Life is Wain, Highness. Anyone who says differently is selling something - A Hunt and Peck

The Man in Black has returned.

At several different points during this season, many thought that career of Adam Wainwright would soon be at the end, at least as a as a member of the St. Louis Cardinals. When he went on the DL, many thought his career was “dead”.

But it was not dead. It was only “mostly dead”. There’s a big difference between mostly dead and all dead. Mostly dead is slightly alive.

Technically the Return of Adam Wainwright was last Monday. He struggled a bit. The miracle pill takes fifteen minutes for full potency, but sometimes there is no time to wait. In his return he pitched five innings giving up four earned runs with only three strikeouts. People were nervous for his second start back in what turned out to be the most important game of season so far. How will a Adam Wainwright, the former Cy Young Finalist, the aging Ace, fight off not just the potent Dodger lineup, but Father Time?

And then:

The Princess Bride (1987 Act III Communications)

He rose, held the team with the top run differential in the National League scoreless and struck out nine in six innings of work, allowing only two hits. By Fangraphs Game Score, which measures how good a start was by looking at innings pitched, strikeouts, hits allowed, earned runs, and walks, it was his best start of the season by far.

Will Waino have a late-career resurgence? It is way too early to tell. But for at least one start, the clock turned back and he was dominant once again.

It was really fun to watch.
