Today marks the thirty-seventh time Adam Wainwright has made a revolution around the sun, which I agree is a very odd way of saying it is his thirty-seventh birthday today. Waino is not a regular dude, though. His birthday post deserves a little extra thought, does it not?
Adam Wainwright made his major league debut in 2005 and his been with the Cardinals ever since. That is almost thirteen seasons playing and one recovering from Tommy John. That is a long time to be a pitcher - nearly 1910 innings, in fact. During that time he has made three All Star Games, earned two Gold Gloves and one Silver Slugger, and has finished in the top three in Cy Young Voting four times. In fact, Waino now has the highest percentage of Cy Young votes among any pitcher to not win the award (and even some that have won the award). Waino has spent most of 2018 out with an injury, but he might be back soon. For his birthday let’s reflect on our favorite Waino moments:
But those are just his on-field triumphs. Off the field he is a father or cool dad, if you will, a costume designer and enthusiast, a curling fan, a supporter of the St. Louis Blues, a gardener, a philanthropist, a friend, a handshake expert and let’s not forget his nerves of steel.
Adam Wainwright owns. May he have the happiest of birthdays.
