St. Louis Cardinals v San Francisco Giants

Today is July 31. For Baseball, that means the Trade Deadline. Teams may still trade after the deadline, the Cardinals even did it last year, but those players are not eligible for the post season, which is usually a drawback.

Anyway, the Cardinals have already made some moves! Here they are:

March 31, 2018

The Cardinals traded right-handed pitcher Josh Lucas to the Oakland Athletics for right-handed pitcher Casey Meisner. Meisner has started one game in AA.

July 27, 2018

The Cardinals traded right-handed reliever Sam Tuivailala to the Seattle Mariners for right-handed reliever Seth Elledge. Elledge has pitched one inning in AA.

July 28, 2018

The Cardinals traded Luke Voit and international bonus pool money to the New York Yankees for left-handed pitcher Chasen Shreve and right-handed pitcher Giovanny Gallegos. Shreve is a twenty-eight-year-old reliever and his last appearance was with the Yankees on July 28. Gallegos is a twenty-six-year old reliever and his last appearance was on the Yankees AAA team on July 26.

July 31, 2018

The Cardinals traded Tommy Pham and international bonus pool money to the Tampa Bay Rays for right-handed reliever Roel Ramirez, left-handed pitcher Genesis Cabrera, and outfielder Justin Williams. Ramirez has appeared in twenty-six games in AA, almost exclusively as a reliever. Cabrera has made twenty starts in AA. Williams made his major-league debut on July 21 before being sent back down to AAA.

Update at hour 1612:

The Cardinals trade Oscar Mercado to the Cleveland Baseball club for outfielders Jhon Torres and Conner Capel. Tores is eighteen years old and is in the low minors in his second year in the minor leagues. Capel is playing on a low A team.
