Somewhere in the last seven or so years Matt Carpenter turned into a cornerstone of the Cardinals roster. If I had to guess, I would say he went from mentee to mentor around the 2015 season. If Yadier Molina is the team’s heart and soul, Matt Carpenter is like, the team’s... eyes. He is pretty important, you would miss him if he was gone, but life would continue without him, though it would be a [pretty big adjustment.
This metaphor is really terrible, so I hope everyone gets the gist here.
Matt Carpenter started the season shaky and many thought this might be the year he saw some decline with the bat. But there was one thing that kept hope alive:
The poor guy was hitting into woefully terrible luck,
but he was still walking.
Thanks to Matt Carpenter, the Cardinals have a chance to win their series against the Phillies today.
And he is gonna do his best to make sure they do.
Who wants to win a series tomorrow? ♂️ lets do this #STLCards
