The third Jordan Hicks update - A Hunt and Peck

I have been tracking Jordan Hicks. Here is what we know.

MLB: St. Louis Cardinals at Cincinnati Reds David Kohl-USA TODAY Sports

Back in May I began my task of tracking Jordan Hicks. The inspiration was the hard-throwing right-handers lack of strikeouts and seeming inability to miss bats despite hitting triple digits on the radar. In my second update we noticed a change in that pattern. Hicks started throwing his four-seamer more - and by more, I mean he started throwing a four-seamer - and his slider less. The strikeouts have grown.

In this update we will notice that the pattern seems to have stabilized. The change was subtle, but the results have been obvious.

In the last update I cautioned that the sample size was too small to draw any conclusions and it still is, but I would be lying if I said these trends do not make me a little excited for the next update. Time will tell all, but things are looking quite well, indeed.
