People are obsessed with Yadier Molina’s Hall of Fame candidacy and no one can really blame them. He has quite an interesting case. As a catcher, his literal value is difficult to quantify, especially as someone lauded for his defense early on in his career and was more of a late-bloomer with his bat. His more... metaphysical qualities - leadership, hard work, game-calling - those are just something that cannot be counted by numbers, and those are the things he is praised for the most. So it is unsurprising as Molina’s distinguished career nears its close that baseball minds look inward to predict the backstop’s fate after his playing days are over. The answer, of course, all depends on who one might ask. That is why people cannot stop asking the question: Is Yadier Molina a Hall of Famer?
