Just a few games into the young the season, Jedd Gyorko suffered a hamstring injury that forced him onto the Disabled List. According to Gyorko, the injury was not serious, but ‘twas enough - enough to keep him out of the lineup for a few weeks, that is. Hopefully, that time is about to come to an end. Per Joe Trezza of MLB.com, Gyorko is set to start a rehab assignment soon:
Jedd Gyorko (hamstring) is taking batting practice, and has therefore resumed at least one baseball activity. He’s still about a week away from a rehab assignment, GM Mike Girsch said. #STLCards

Jedd** (damn autocorrect) Gyorko will travel to Florida today to test his strained right hamstring, and begin a rehab assignment in the coming days. Gyorko has been taking on-field batting practice this week. #STLCards

Gyorko’s return will add another above average bat into the lineup and versatility among the infield as he can play third, second, and kinda, sorta shortstop. This will be important as the long grind that is the baseball season marches on.
In short, Jedd Gyorko makes the Cardinals better and his return will be a very good thing indeed.
