Marcell Ozuna a top speed/power threat among MLB players - A Hunt and Peck

Recently, Dave Adler of MLB.com compiled a list of players that are a threat at the plate and on the basepaths. To do this, he used Statcast Barrels and Sprint Speed. Per Adler:

Barrels are the most dangerous type of contact, batted balls with optimal combinations of exit velocity and launch angle. Sprint Speed measures a player’s speed in feet per second during his fastest one-second window on the basepaths. MLB average sprint speed is 27 ft/sec; 30 ft/sec or higher is elite.

According to Adler only eight Major League Baseball players had at least forty barrels and a sprint speed at or greater than 28 feet per second going into the 2018 season.

One of those players is Marcell Ozuna.

In 2017 Ozuna accumulated forty-four barrels and had a sprint speed of 28.2 feet per second. That translated to thirty-seven homers and quality outfield defense.
