The best type of player interview is a candid one. It seems more and more athletes, maybe because of social media and the immediate access to fans, are willing to show their personalities to the public. It is wonderful. It is more entertaining, but it also adds a little humanity to the sport. It gives fans not just an entity to root for, but a person, too. Bernie Miklasz and Michelle Smallmon spoke with Cardinals infielder Matt Carpenter about his teammates, among other things.
Of course, what made the interview even better was Tommy Pham’s responses to some of the answers to the questions:
Undisputed swag champ of the team @Tsunamy27 has made some effort to take my belt but year after year I prevail https://t.co/RGdaAeLmBG

Will Carlos Martinez finally succeed in becoming the Swag Champ of the Cardinals? There is only one way to find out.
