For those out there who are unfamiliar with Shohei Ohtani, he is a Japanese baseball player that just signed with the Angels. He is not just any player though... he is a pitcher - a good pitcher. He finished his 2016 season with 140 innings pitched and a 1.86 ERA. He is also an outfielder - a good outfielder. In 2016 he played in 104 games with a .322/.416./588 slash line and a 1.004 OPS. He hit 22 home runs and 18 doubles and is considered a good fielder. All this amounted to the an MVP of the Pacific League. He was a prize of the 2017 offseason and was signed by the Angels. The baseball world was buzzing with excitement of seeing a true two-way player - perhaps the best one since Babe Ruth. And then, because everything is awful, this was announced:
