St. Louis Cardinals Trade Rumors: GIANCARLO STANTON - A Hunt and Peck

In case you have not heard, the Cardinals have been linked to Giancarlo Stanton in various trade rumors. According to Peter Gammons, the Cardinals “have reportedly made one of their best young pitchers available if the Derek Jeter ownership will take back some of the money”. The two teams seem like a good fit for a trade, as the Cardinals have been in want of an “impact bat” and Marlins look to shed payroll.

As far as who the “one of their best young pitchers” is, for now, it is just speculation. According MLB Trade Rumors, the pitcher of interest is mostly likely to be from a group that includes “Alex Reyes, Luke Weaver, Jack Flaherty, Sandy Alcantara, Junior Fernandez, and Dakota Hudson”.

Adding more fuel to the hot stove fire is Derrick Goold of the St. Louis Post Dispatch reporting that the Cardinals “desire a bat for the middle of the order... [they] believe their best bet for a bat is via trade.”

A trade appears imminent. Only time will tell exactly what the Cardinals plan to do before the 2018 season begins.
