In a press conference on Tuesday morning, Cardinals president of baseball operations John Mozeliak informed the media that the Cardinals will not be issuing contracts to pitching coach Derek Lilliquist or bullpen coach Blaise Ilsley. The pair’s contracts expire at the conclusion of the 2017 seasson. Per Derrick Goold of the St. Louis Post Dispatch:

[Derek] Lilliquist and bullpen coach Blaise Ilsley were told Monday that their contracts would not be renewed, president of baseball operations John Mozeliak announced Tuesday.... Mozeliak said the rest of Mike Matheny's coaching staff is expected to return for the 2018 season.

Goold reported that the Cardinals will look internally and externally for replacements as the teams is searching for a pitching coach “that is open to the data available and some modern views of how pitchers should be deployed.” AAA pitching coach Bryan Eversgerd could be a candidate.

Goold will continue to update the story here:
