More Cardinals join the World Baseball Classic- A Hunt and Peck

Matt Carpenter and Alex Reyes will join teammates Yadier Molina and Carlos Martínez in the tournament..

Per Derrick Goold of the St. Louis Post Dispatch both Matt Carpenter and Alex Reyes confirmed last Thursday that they will participate in the World Baseball Classic for the United States and the Dominican Republic, respectively. The teammates will join Cardinals battery Yadier Molina and Carlos Martínez in the tournament, participating for Puerto Rico and the DR, respectively. Per Goold, Carpenter feels honored to have the opportunity to play for his country:

"It’s an honor," he wrote in a text message. "I’ve had some thrills on the baseball diamond but this is one that’s going to be tough to beat. Putting on that USA jersey is something I’m going to cherish."
