Happy birthday to Cardinals legend David Eckstein! - A Hunt and Peck

Guys guys guys

As you all may know, my nickname is "Scooter". Naturally, with that nickname, my favorite player growing up was David Eckstein. Could I have chosen Jim Edmonds? Too flashy. Albert Pujols? Too obvious. Scott Rolen? Too intimidating. David Eckstein though? He is scrappy. He is adorable. He hustled. I love him. During his three seasons wearing the Birds on the Bat he accumulated 4.7 fWAR and never had an OBP less than .350 or a grounder he did not run out.

And he is the 2006 World Series MVP and if there is a more fitting MVP for how that season and postseason went, this writer certainly missed him.
