Since July 1, the Cardinals have encountered some pretty rotten luck in regards to injuries. Let’s take a refresher look at their disabled list since then:

And that is without mentioning Marco Gonzalez and Lance Lynn, both recovering from Tommy John, and Jordan Walden, recovering from... whatever is wrong with him.
But the good news is, the Birdos should be getting some reinforcements soon. In Derrick Goold’s update this morning for St. Louis Post Dispatch, both Matt Holliday and Aledmys Diaz look to be on track to return to the team this season, with Holliday having had his cast removed and Diaz participating in fielding drills. Trevor Rosenthal has began a throwing program. Brayan Peña is rehabbing at Palm Beach and Matt Adams to begin his rehab in Memphis soon. Michael Wacha could be throwing again as early as this week.
The stretch run will be here soon and the Cardinals are trying to lock down a playoff spot. At least these players will be well rested.
