Matt Carpenter bets that the Cardinals catch the Cubs by the All Star Break - A Hunt and Peck

The Cardinals star infielder thinks his team can catch the rival from the north by the All Star break.

Since the season began, the Chicago Cubs have taken off in the standings and have not looked back while the Cardinals went through some early trouble, but have recently seemed to right the ship. Matt Carpenter, the Cardinals star infielder and perhaps the team's best player believes his team can ride this most recent wave of success back up in the standings. Per Rick Hummel of the St. Louis Post Dispatch:

"I wouldn't be surprised if we make a pretty good run and catch those guys. They haven't gone through a bad streak, which every team will go through. And we haven't gone through our good streak yet...

We've played some of the toughest part of our schedule and they haven't. My guess? I bet we can get it down to four games before the All-Star break... If we get it to four, they'll be thinking about it."

The 2016 MLB All Star Game is 27 days away, the Birdos are 9.5 back in the standings, and have a series in Chicago between now and then. Carpenter's prediction might be a little bold, but it is certainly possible. Let's see if it happens!
