Will Carlos Martinez break out in 2016? - A Hunt and Peck

Perhaps bigger things are still on the way for the adorable righty.

Carlos Martinez is wonderful and we truly do not deserve him. After showcasing a dominant fastball and exciting potential in the Cardinal bullpen in 2013 and 2014, El Gallo got his chance to be a full-time starter in 2015. He did not let it go to waste with an ERA and FIP just a touch over 3.00 (3.01 and 3.21 respectively), striking out just over 24% of batters and walking a little over 8%. The year, punctuated by an All Star selection (#VoteTsunami), was a respectable one by any standards.

But is there more to come?

Rob Parker from SB Nation's Fake Teams believes so:

Maybe he already had his breakout, but I think it is possible he gets even better. He's probably my favorite pitcher on this team and might end up with the best fantasy season of any pitcher on the team, especially if Wainwright gets hurt again or struggles a little bit.

2015 was a great year for Carlos, but unfortunately it was cut just a bit short. Is 2016 the year he shows was he truly capable of?

Does the possibility of Martinez being even better give anyone else heart palpitations? (I should probably get that checked out.)
