A month ago, the Cardinals has made some decisions, revealing a little bit about what the team’s offseason plans may be. Since then, they have done more things. Here is the latest Cardinals hot stove news:

Signings:

• The Cardinals have signed left-handed reliever Brett Cecil for four years and $7.5 million AAV.
• The team also signed a minor league deal with infielder Wilfredo Tovar

Releases:

• Brayan Peña, GREAT PERSON AND HUMAN BEING, has sadly been released. Peña had a disappointing and injury-riddled season with the Birdos, amassing only fourteen plate-appearances during his tenure wearing the Birds on the Bat. He is a fun-loving and seemingly kind person, so his presence shall be missed. He is still owed what remains of his two-year, $5 million contract.
• The team did not elect to tender a contract to lovable sinkerballer Seth Maness, who underwent surgery to repair a ligament in his elbow (not Tommy John).

Trades:

• After exercising his option just a month ago, the Cardinals have traded long-time Birdo Jaime Garcia to the Braves in exchange for minor league infielder Luke Dykstra and right-handers John Gant and Chris Ellis.

Rumors:

• The Cardinals have made known Michael Wacha is available for trade, though his value seems to be low at the moment.
• The Cardinals will not trade Alex Reyes or Carlos Martinez.
• Though Mark Saxon of ESPN has noted that Cardinals do not appear interested in third-baseman Justin Turner, there have been several rumors to the contrary. The two parties seem like a good fit and Jon Morosi of MLB Network stated the team seems to have some interest.
• Several teams, specifically the Cardinals, Giants, and Blue Jays, have apparently shown interest in free agent outfielder Dexter Fowler. Fowler is said to be looking for a multi-year deal worth upwards of $18 million AAV.
