Cardinals Hot Stove Rumors: Justin Turner, anyone? - A Hunt and Peck

Reports are swirling that the Cardinals are interested in the third baseman, though we have been beating this drum for awhile now...

MLB: St. Louis Cardinals at Los Angeles Dodgers Jayne Kamin-Oncea-USA TODAY Sports

According to Jon Morosi of mlb.com the Cardinals have interest in free agent third baseman Justin Turner. MLB Trade Rumors has Turner ranked fourth among this year’s free agents, estimating a payout of $85 million over five years. Along with an above average bat that has hit for a career 120 wRC+ (158 and 142 in 2014 and 2015, respectively), Turner would provide a definite upgrade to a Cardinals infield defense that was... ungreat in 2016. Turner also provides positional flexibility having played all at all the bases at some point, though mostly third. Having rejected a qualifying offer, Turner will cost a draft pick, which provides a bit of a deterrent, but overall appears to be a significant upgrade should the Cardinals find a way to make a deal happen.

He also did this to the Cardinals in 2016...

But that game ended like this, so it is okay...
