A look at current Cardinals and former little league heroes - A Hunt and Peck

The Little League World Series ended yesterday.

Little League

Yesterday was the thrilling championship round of the Little League World SeriesPennsylvania was defeated by Japan in an offense-packed thriller.  So, in the spirit of Little League, let's look at some former Little League World Series participants that we have come to know and love.

Lance Lynn was a pitcher for the team from Brownsburg, Indiana in 1999. He is one of twelve players in MLB history to have played in a Little League World Series and MLB Fall Classic. Pitching against Colby Rasmus and the Alabama team, Lynn had a shutout going through four before giving up a run in the fifth. Mike Matheny then left him in too long and allowed him to give up a game-ending grand slam in the sixth. - Sporting News

Want to feel old? Waayyy back in 2003 at the age of eleven  Randal Grichuk and his little league team went to the semi-finals losing 14-13 to New England (OF COURSE). The team  then went on to the Little League World Series the following year, placing third in 2004 with a 6-2 record. In 2003, Grichuk went four-for-nine with three RBI and three runs scored. He followed up that performance in 2004 by going twelve-for-nineteen with four home runs, three doubles, eleven RBI, and nine runs scored, all tournament best. - Little League
