Yesterday was the thrilling championship round of the Little League World Series. Pennsylvania was defeated by Japan in an offense-packed thriller. So, in the spirit of Little League, let's look at some former Little League World Series participants that we have come to know and love.
Lance Lynn was a pitcher for the team from Brownsburg, Indiana in 1999. He is one of twelve players in MLB history to have played in a Little League World Series and MLB Fall Classic. Pitching against Colby Rasmus and the Alabama team, Lynn had a shutout going through four before giving up a run in the fifth. Mike Matheny then left him in too long and allowed him to give up a game-ending grand slam in the sixth. - Sporting News
Want to feel old? Waayyy back in 2003 at the age of eleven Randal Grichuk and his little league team went to the semi-finals losing 14-13 to New England (OF COURSE). The team then went on to the Little League World Series the following year, placing third in 2004 with a 6-2 record. In 2003, Grichuk went four-for-nine with three RBI and three runs scored. He followed up that performance in 2004 by going twelve-for-nineteen with four home runs, three doubles, eleven RBI, and nine runs scored, all tournament best. - Little League
