The St. Louis Cardinals' lineup is out for Game 3 against the Arizona Diamondbacks, and it includes our first look at what should be a pretty common roster maneuever: Mike Matheny's made room for Matt Adams in the lineup--and given Carlos Beltran and his aching toe a night off--by moving Allen Craig to right field. Adams, who made the team with a strong spring training (and an assist from Ronny Cedeno), is therefore the Cardinals' ersatz fourth outfielder, in addition to a daily reminder that the Cardinals didn't need to sign Ty Wigginton.

Elsewhere: Pete Kozma sneaks past Daniel Descalso on the lineup card, which is the kind of thing you do after hitting 400-foot home runs, even extremely implausible ones. David Freese's absence is keeping us from a look at the last moving-parts trick this 25-man roster has to offer--for now, Matt Carpenter's only played third base.
Put another way: Daniel Descalso would be wise to, say, hit .500 or pull two or three home runs over the next week.
