With the minor league regular season winding down the system went 3-2 W-L overall with Johnson City's last game being last night. Memphis won and took a one game lead over Omaha in the standings. They've clinched at least a tie for the time being. Springfield blew the save in the ninth and went on to lose. Palm Beach had troubles defensively as they could not finish off Charlotte in the later innings. Peoria put up nine runs in a win against Kane County. State College won again now four games ahead of the second place Jamestown.

Memphis 7, Oklahoma City 3

  • Brock Peterson hit an RBI double his only hit.
  • Chad Huffman hit a solo shot while Greg Garcia went deep with a 2-run homer.
  • Jamie Romak came through with a 2-run RBI single to give them the sizable lead.
  • Scott McGregor was all but quality in six innings as he gave up three earned on seven hits, walked one and struck out three.
  • Memphis's bullpen was stellar as Deryk Hooker pitched two scoreless innings and Nick Greenwood had a scoreless ninth.

Springfield 6, Tulsa 7

  • Luis Mateo whose been a real fine with the glove for Springfield hit an RBI double.
  • Ruben Gotay another one of those highly productive off-season minor league free acquisitions was 2-5 with two RBI. The veteran presence for the younger players he's provided, wonderful defense at third getting raves by his manager Mike Shildt as to having the best hands he's ever seen by a third baseman, offense his brought to the three-hole all year long, and finally just his high-character inside that Springfield clubhouse in a mentoring role.
  • Xavier Scruggs was 2-5 with solo homer his 27th on the season.
  • Matt Williams hit a sac fly.
  • Seth Blair in six innings of work gave up five runs (three earned) on nine hits, walked four and struck out three.

Palm Beach 4, Charlotte 6

  • David Popkins was 3-4 with an RBI single. Now hitting .319 on the season. Will be interesting to see how he plays in Springfield next year.
  • Anthony Garcia was 2-5 with a 2-run blast. His 13th on the season. Another one that it will be interesting to see how he plays in Springfield next year especially to see how much power he will hit for after a down season for power this year.
  • Kyle Hald pitched 5 2/3 innings gave up four runs (one earned) on seven hits and struck out three.
  • Thomas Lee and Robert Stock didn't get much help from there defense. Lee's line (1.2 IP, 1 H, 1 R, 0 ER, 1 BB, 1 K) and Stock's line (1.1 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 1 BB, 2 K).

Peoria 9, Kane County 0
