Daily Farm Report - 8/5/13

A daily recap of the minor league players in the Cardinals' farm system.

Memphis 2, Las Vegas 5

  • Memphis was stymied at the plate with no extra base hits, 7 singles and 1 walk.
  • Justin Christian was the only player to reach base twice with a 2-for-3 outing. He was also hit by pitch.
  • Tyler Lyons had one of his weaker AAA outings allowing 5 runs on 5 hits in 5 innings. He walked 1, hit a batter and struck out 4.
  • Deryk Hooker pitched 2 innings allowing 2 hits and striking out 2.

Palm Beach 6, Dunedin 5

  • Alex Mejia was 3-for-5 with a double.
  • Matt Williams was 2-for-4 with a double and his 3rd home run of the season.
  • Jacob Wilson was 2-for-5 with his first Palm Beach home run.
  • Jonathan Rodriguez was 1-for-4 with a walk and his 14th home run of the season. Wilson hit the tying home run in the 9th followed up by Rodriguez's go ahead home run.
  • Hector Hernandez struck out 3 in 7 innings of work. He allowed 3 runs (2 earned) on 1 walk and 9 hits.
  • Dean Kiekhefer picked up the save but only after giving Dunedin the lead in the 8th inning.

Peoria 9, Burlington 8

  • Despite outscoring Burlington, Peoria only had 9 hits compared to Burlington's 19.
  • Jeremy Schaffer was 2-for-3 with a walk and a pair of home runs.
  • Trevor Martin was 2-for-3 with a home run.
  • The first two pitchers for Peoria, Kyle Helisek and Thomas Lee, were both roughed up for 5 and 3 runs, respectively.
  • Brady Adamek stopped the bleeding with 2.2 innings of scoreless baseball allowing 3 hits and striking out 3.
  • Dixon Llorens picked up his 9th save with a scoreless inning allowing 1 hit and striking out 2. Llorens seasonal numbers are quite good 54 strikeouts in 36 innings against 19 walks but he's be outstanding in recent performances. Over the last 10 games, he's pitched 16 innings. During that time, he's walked just 3 and struck out 30. Llorens is on a roll right now.
