Daily Farm Report - 8/19/13

A daily recap of the minor league players in the Cardinals' farm system.

Memphis 7, Omaha 4

  • Jermaine Curtis was 2-for-4 with a double and a walk.
  • Brock Peterson and Jamie Romak both went 2-for-5 with a double.
  • Ryan Jackson was 0-for-4 with 3 strikeouts. Jackson's still hitting for a respectable average but the early season power dried up entirely and his slugging is now below is OBP.
  • Audry Perez was 2-for-4 with a double.
  • Nick Greenwood allowed 8 hits in 4 innings. He was tagged for 4 runs on 2 walks while striking out 2.
  • Fernando Salas picked up his 11th save with a 1-strikeout 9th.
  • Memphis also faced former teammate Maikel Cleto who pitched two scoreless innings striking out 2.

Peoria 1, Cedar Rapids 2

  • Peoria didn't draw a walk in the game and tallied just 5 hits including 1 double.
  • Ben O'Shea pitched 6 innings of 3 hit baseball but was saddled with the loss after allowing 2 runs (1 earned). He struck out 4 and walked 3.
  • Dixon Llorens pitched a scoreless inning allowing 1 walk and 1 strikeout.

State College 2, Batavia 1 (11 innings)

  • Steve Ramos, CF, was 2-for-5 with a double.
  • Cesar Valera, SS, and David Washington, 1B, both went 1-for-4 with a walk.
  • State College had a long night at the plate despite picking up the win. They struck out 11 times.
  • Kevin Hergert led off the game with 6 innings. He allowed 1 unearned run on 4 hits while striking out 5 and walking 2.
  • Mitch Harris tossed 2 scoreless innings allowing 2 hits and 1 walk. He struck out 2.

Johnson City 4, Bristol 5 (12 innings)

  • Richy Pedroza, 2B, was 2-for-6 with a double.
  • Kenneth Peoples-Walls, SS, and JJ Antobelli, 3B, both went 2-for-6. Peoples-Walls racked up a golden sombrero for the night.
  • Jhohan Acevedo, RF, was 2-for-4 with a double and a walk.
  • Dailyn Martinez offered a strong start with 7 innings allowing just 1 unearned run. He struck out 2 and walked 1 getting 13 of 15 outs in play on the ground.
  • Fernando Baez struck out 3 and walked 1 in 2 hitless innings.
  • Nick Lomascolo took the loss with 3 runs (2 earned) during the 1.1 innings pitched spanning the 11th and 12th innings. He allowed 2 hits, 2 walks and struck out 2.
