Daily Farm Report - 8/9/13

A daily recap of the minor league players in the Cardinals' farm system.

The system goes 3-4 W-L overall as Memphis lost both games of there double-header while Springfield and Johnson City walked-off. Zach Petrick makes his fifth start at Double-A. Marco Gonzales makes his second start at Single-A. Mitch Harris tossed four scoreless in a State College win.

Memphis 2, Reno 5 (Completion of the suspended game Thursday night)

  • Kolten Wong went deep for the ninth time in Triple-A.
  • Scott McGregor pitched 5 2/3 innings gave up five earned on seven hits.

Memphis 3, Reno 11 (seven innings)

  • Mike O'Neill singled and walked twice.
  • Greg Garcia was 2-2 with an RBI single.
  • Nick Greenwood gave up four earned on five hits in three innings as the emergency fill-in starter.
  • Deryk Hooker struck out one in a scoreless inning of work.
  • Eric Fornataro continues to see inconsistent results on the '13 campaign as he gave up two earned on three hits in one inning. Health has played a major part in that.

Springfield 2, Midland 1

  • Shane Robinson sent on his rehab was 0-4 with a strikeout in his first game.
  • Stephen Piscotty was 3-4 with an RBI.
  • Casey Rasmus ended the game with a walk-off bunt an attribute he does very well.
  • Zach Petrick pitched five innings of one-run ball, he walked three and struck out seven on ninety pitches thrown.
  • Zach Russell fanned five in three scoreless frames.
  • Justin Wright retired two in the ninth then sent on right-handed specialist Heath Wyatt who retired the final batter of the top of the ninth.

Palm Beach 2, Jupiter 3

  • Jonathan Rodriguez has done his "Matt Adams" impersonation in the FSL this season going 1-3 with an RBI double with a walk. Rodriguez leads the FSL in total OPS with a .902 OPS this season.
  • Patrick Wisdom singled in his second game at Palm Beach.
  • Marco Gonzales gave up two earned on four hits in four innings of work. The 1st rounder struck out four on the night.
  • Robert Stock punched out one in a scoreless inning.
  • Ronnie Shaban allowed one earned on two hits in one inning.

Peoria 2, Wisconsin 4

State College 4, Brooklyn 1

  • Steven Ramos was 2-5 with an RBI single. Ramos has been very successful with the bat this season with a .364 on the season.
  • Mason Katz was 2-3 with an RBI triple and walk.
  • Brett Wiley hit an RBI single.
  • Kevin Herget pitched one only inning which was scoreless.
  • Mitch Harris came in tossed four innings of shutout ball being a major lift for the State College bullpen.
  • Jacob Booden earned the save with a scoreless eighth and ninth.

Johnson City 2, Bluefield 1

  • Rowan Wick showing off that raw power with a solo shot his fifth on the season.
  • With Jhohan Acevedo at the plate in the twelfth BlueField's hurler threw a passed ball that got away from the catcher and let Leandro Mateo to score the walk-off run.
  • Blake McKnight pitched 6 2/3 innings gave up one earned on seven hits, the right-hander struck out seven.
  • Zach Loraine fanned four in 2 1/3 scoreless.
  • Fernando Baez struck out three in two scoreless.
