Daily Farm Report 7/6/13

A daily recap of the minor league players in the Cardinals' farm system.

The players performances may not show it but in the W-L column a very good overall night in the system as they went 5-1 W-L overall. Kolten Wong did yard work for the sixth time for Memphis this season. Tyrell Jenkins was removed from the Palm Beach game after only throwing two pitches. Reports are cautiously saying he left with an apparent "elbow problem".

Memphis 7, Nashville 2

Thomas Pham now the lead-off hitter in that Memphis lineup hit was 1-4 with an RBI single.

Kolten Wong went deep for sixth time it was a 3-run homer.

Jamie Romak launched his 17th homer of the season.

Adron Chambers went an even 3-3 as he hit two doubles and had two RBI's.

Nick Addition logged a solid 7 innings he gave up 3 hits on 2 earned runs and struck out 5.

Sam Freeman gave up two singles after that he buckled down and retired the next three to extend his scoreless inning streak to 24 innings which is impressive feat for any reliever to remain without giving up run for that long of time.

Springfield 8, San Antonio 1

Mike O'Neill had a single and two walks. The pesky O'Neill now has a .437 OBP which is exactly 37 points higher than his slugging.

Tim Cooney had a solid start he went 6 2/3 innings surrendered 4 hits to 1 earned run walked only 1 and struck out 6.

Palm Beach 2, Jupiter 3

The only farm club to lose on the night they lost a heart breaker in the 13th inning.

Starlin Rodriguez collected 3 hits which included a clutch RBI to tie the game in the 9th.

Danny Stienstra had a 3-hit game. Stienstra may not be a plausible prospect with the age issues playing at Florida State League but he's supplied a good bat when in the lineup he's achieved a solid .292 batting average playing in the FSL the league that kills offense. He will most likely wind up in some organizational role but players with good bats that can fill empty holes at each level can always be dependable to organizations and for each farm club. Just ask Chris Swauger whose had a career off it.
