Daily Farm Report - 7/5/13

A daily recap of the minor league players in the Cardinals' farm system.

Memphis 6, Nashville 2

Jamie Romak went 2-3 with an RBI double and solo homer. Romak now has 23 doubles and 17 home runs on the season.

Jermaine Curtis was 1-3 with a solo shot and he also walked.

Chris Swauger now up producing for Memphis hit a 2-run RBI double.

Carlos Martinez went 5 1/3 innings he gave 6 hits on 1 earned run walked 4 while striking out 1 and induced 8 groundouts. This is are the type of outings you like seeing your top pitching prospects have. Still find ways to be successful regardless of not having there best stuff or command.

Nick Greenwood pitched a scoreless 9th he walked 1 and struck out 1.

Springfield 8, Corpus Christi 10

Mike O'Neill singled and walked twice.

James Ramsey hit a solo shot his 7th for Springfield and also hit an RBI groundout.

Adam Melker was 2-4 with 2 RBI.

Vance Albitz went 2-5 with a grand slam.

Anthony Ferrara got the quick hook as he only retired two batters and gave up 2 hits on 5 earned runs before eventually being relieved by Corey Baker.

Lee Stoppelman had a nice bounce back outing after giving up runs in his last outing. He pitched a scoreless inning gave up a hit while striking out a batter.

Palm Beach 7, Charlotte 4

Colin Walsh had 3 hits in 5 at bats which included a triple.

Starlin Rodriguez was 2-3 with an RBI single the toolsy prospect also walked on base on balls.

Jonathan Rodriguez hit a 2-run RBI single.

Zach Petrick had by far the best performance of his pro career. He pitched six shutout innings allowing just 5 hits on 8 strikeouts. The non-drafted free agent who signed with the Cardinals just for fours day after the draft concluded last year in 8 games (3 starts) at Palm Beach the right-hander has struck out 26 to 2 only walks in 26 innings pitched with an impressive 0.35 ERA. That's impressive results for a non-draft free agent whose jumped from Rookie-Ball Johnson City all the way to Class-A Advanced in Palm Beach in the matter of one year.


Peoria 2, Beloit 0

Breyvic Valera singled twice pushing his average to .299 mark.

Jeremy Schaffer hit an RBI double.

Jordan Walton collected 3 hits one being an RBI single.

Hector Hernandez pitched 5 scoreless innings allowing only 1 hit didn't walk a single batter and struck out 2 on the night.

Zach Russell converted the save while punching out two in a scoreless 9th.

State College 3, Batavia 4

Steven Ramos recorded two singles. The speed-burner is now hitting a robust .366 on the season.

David Washington who is built like a full-grown man playing with younger kids was 2-4 with an RBI double.

Carson Kelly was 2-4 with an RBI single. Hopefully that gets him going.

Juan Bautista pitched 5 innings gave up 7 hits on 3 earned runs walked 3 and struck out 1.

Victor De Leon still coming out of relief walked 2 and struck out 3 in 2 scoreless innings in relief.

Johnson City 3, Kingsport 5

Richy Pedroza hit two singles and walked as Vaughn Bryan two singles as well.

Kenneth-Peoples Walls was 1-5 with an RBI double.

Brett Wiley goes 2-4 with an RBI triple he's now batting .308 on the season.

Lance Jeffries was 2-4 with an RBI single and stolen base.

Luis Perdomo struggled getting out of the 5th inning as his final line 4 1/3 innings allowed 8 hits on 5 earned runs he walked 3 and struck out 5.

Zach Loraine fanned three in 1 2/3 scoreless innings.

Michael Holback struck out three in two scoreless innings.
