The system had a busy night, going 3-and-4 in 7 games. Michael Wacha made a joke out of Round Rock batsmen. State College was swept in its double-header despite strong pitching that limited Mahoning Valley to 3 runs because they only mustered a total of 4 singles in two games. Johnson City lost in extra innings.
- Jamie Romak was 2-for-3 with a HR (20) and walk. With Brock Peterson promotion to St. Louis, Romak now leads the PCL in home runs.
- Greg Garcia was 2-for-3.
- Chad Huffman doubled.
- Kolten Wong singled.
- Michael Wacha was sharp after resting for fifteen days between starts, though he did face five batters in Triple-A's All-Star Game. In 6 innings, he used 87 pitches (57 strikes) to strike out 8 batters. Wacha only allowed 2 hits and the 1 run that scored against him was on a solo homer, but his 2-7 groundout-flyout ratio makes me wonder what the other balls in play looked like.
- Victor Marte had a scoreless outing, everyone! No, really!
- Keith Butler allowed a solo home run and struck out a batter in 2 innings.
- Springfield tallied 4 hits and 5 walks but couldn't push any runs across home plate.
- Mike O'Neill, Chris Swauger, and Colin Walsh all singled and walked.
- Cody Stanley singled while Jake Lemmerman and Ruben Gotay contributed walks.
- Jonathan Cornelius allowed 8 hits and 2 walks in 6.2 innings but limited Tulsa to 3 runs by keeping the ball on the floor with 11 groundouts against just 1 flyout.
- Jose Almarante struck out the only batter he retired, stranding 2 of 3 inherited runners in the process.
- Danny Miranda, appearing in just his second game for Springfield, struck out 3 in 2 innings.
- Alex Mejia was 1-for-4 with a double.
- Nick Longmire was 1-for-3 with a double.
- David Popkins and Starlin Rodriguez were both 2-for-4. It's worth noting that Starlin Rodriguez has remained in CF even after Colin Walsh was promoted to Springfield.
- Jesus Montero was 2-for-3.
- Hector Hernandez lasted 7 innings that included 2 runs on 8 hits, 2 walks, and 5 strikeouts.
- Dean Kiekhefer struck out 1 in 2 innings that also included a hit.
- Jacob Wilson was 3-for-5 with 2 doubles and a walk.
- C.J. McElroy doubled and walked in the leadoff spot.
- Patrick Wisdom was 1-for-6 with a double.
- Gerwuins Velazco was 2-for-5 with a double and SB (4).
- Breyvic Valera was 2-for-4 with a walk.
- Jeremy Schaffer was 2-for-2 with a SB (2).
- Charlie Tilson was 1-for-5 with a walk.
- Kyle Helisek allowed 4 runs (all unearned) in 2 innings on 3 hits, 5 walks, and 3 strikeouts.
- Joe Donofrio pitted 3 strikeouts against 1 walk in 3 innings but allowed 1 run on a solo homer.
- Samuel Tuivailala allowed 2 runs on 3 hits and 1 strikeout in his inning.
- Thomas Lee allowed 1 of 3 inherited runners to score but scattered 3 hits across 3 innings and struck out 2.
- Zach Russell allowed 1 hit and 1 walk but struck out 1 in his scoreless inning.
State College 1, Mahoning Valley 2 (Game 1 - Eight innings)
- Jimmy Bosco and David Washington had State College's only 2 hits, both of which were singles.
- Bruce Caldwell and Mason Katz walked.
- Jimmy Reed continued pitching well by twirling 6 innings that included 1 run on 7 hits, 1 walk, and 3 strikeouts. His groundout-flyout ratio was great at 8-2.
- Victor De Leon allowed 1 run on 1 hit and 3 walks in 1.1 innings.
State College 0, Mahoning Valley 1 (Game 2 - Eight innings)
- Mason Katz and Matthew Young collected State College's only 2 hits, both of which were singles... again.
- State College did manage to walk 6 times: Bruce Caldwell (2), Luis Perez (2), David Washington (1), and Alex De Leon (1).
- Nick Petree struck out 5 and only allowed 1 hit and 1 walk in 5 scoreless innings.
- Andrew Pierce struck out 7 in 4.1 innings that included 1 run on 4 hits and 1 walk.
Johnson City 7, Greeneville 9 (13 innings)
- Rowan Wick (DH) was 2-for-5 with a double, walk, and SB (2).
- Ronnierd Garcia (3B) was 2-for-5 with a walk and stolen base (1 - home plate).
- J.J. Altobelli (SS) was 2-for-6 with a double.
- Yoenny Gonzalez (LF) was 1-for-5 with a double.
- Brett Wiley (2B) singled and walked.
- Justin Ringo (1B) doubled and walked.
- Lance Jeffries and Baughn Bryan both singled. Jeffries stole his 7th base.
- Luis Perdomo was lit up for 5 runs on 8 hits and 1 walk in 4.1 innings. He struck out 2.
- A parade of relievers followed Perdomo. The highlights included Brandon Lee (1.2 IP, 1 H, 1 BB, 3 K), Steven Sabatino (1.1 IP, 1 H, 1 BB, 2 K), and Fernando Baez (1.2 IP, 1 BB, 1 K).
